Bottom line: Patients with history of exposure to beryllium dust, such as patients who work in aerospace, nuclear, dental or ceramic industries. Beryllium mining is not associated with increased risk of exposure. Manufacture of fluorescent lights, which was a source of exposure to beryllium dust before 1950, no longer involves use of beryllium.
