How long after taking prednisone would a patient be considered immunosuppressed?

The Bottom Line: The minimum dose and duration of steroid therapy necessary to induce immunosuppression is not well defined, clinical judgment must be used to determine if a patient immunosuppressed. Most would consider a dose equivalent to or greater than a prednisone dose of 2 mg/kg of body weight per day (or a total of 20 mg/day) administered daily or on every other day for two weeks or more to be sufficiently immunosuppressed.
