Cardiomyopathy: is there a higher incidence in primigravidas pregnancies?

Ntusi, N., Bongani, M. Aetiology and risk factors of peripartum cardiomyopathy: a systematic review. International Journal of Cardiology 131 (2009): 168-79.

Cardiomyopathy has been repeatedly demonstrated to occur with much higher incidence and prevalence in women with high parity and gravidity; in one cited study, 71% of women diagnosed had three or more prior pregnancies, while 8% were primigravidas. The prevalance of the syndrome among women with twin pregnancies is much higher.
