Which patients with COPD are recommended to received oxygen therapy?

Recommendation: Oxygen therapy for “stage IV COPD patients with PaO2 at or below 55 mm Hg or SaO2 ≤ 88%, with or without hypercapnia or PaO2 between 55 mm Hg and 60 mm Hg, or SaO2 of 88%, if there is evidence of pulmonary hypertension, peripheral edema suggesting congestive cardiac failure, or polycythemia (hematocrit > 55%) Qaseem A, Snow V, Shekelle P, et al: Diagnosis and management of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a clinical practice guideline from the American College of Physicians.
