Is long-term treatment with clopidogrel recommended for patients with acute coronary syndrome?

The 2011 ACCF (American College of Cardiology Foundation)/AHA (American Heart Association) focused update incorporated into the ACC (American College of Cardiology)/AHA 2007 guidelines on managing patients with unstable angina (UA)/non–ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) recommend that clopidogrel be continued for up to twelve months. See Table 13 for a dosing table for antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy in patinets with UA/NSTEMI.
